The Mind – Body – Spirit Connection
Are you wondering what exactly “Complete Wellness” is? It is a state of having your body, mind, and spirit connected and working harmoniously with each other. Let’s dive into this concept in more detail and then we’ll discover why it’s worth working towards and achieving.
Have you ever felt like you were working on your personal wellness and still felt out of balance? I think most people do. We tend to focus on one thing at a time. The problem is to maintain a balance and reach complete wellness we need to consider 3 Key areas. Now I’m not saying do all 3 at once, but I am encouraging you to alternate between them.
This is the whole purpose of my BLOG – to help us focus on all 3 Key areas for a more wholesome and complete personal development. So let’s get to it. What are these 3 Key areas and why should we focus on them individually and/or together?
- 1st Key – Mind Development
- 2nd Key – Body Nourishment & Strength
- 3rd Key – Spirit Nourishment
- The Mind – Body – Spirit Connection
How the energy of our mind, body, and spirit intertwine is unique to every individual. It’s a path that is impossible to accurately compare with others. Embrace your uniqueness as you progress, balance, and transform yourself into your best version of you.

1st Key – Mind Development

Nourishing our minds by increasing our knowledge will help us on our path of progression. I’ve always loved the phrase, “Knowledge is Power”. Learning new things brings new opportunities. It also creates new and interesting topics to discuss with others to liven up conversations. A win-win all around.
Exercising our minds for improving memory and attention is important as well. Exercises to help with maintaining and increasing our mental sharpness include, puzzles, cards, vocabulary, dance, music, meditation/prayer, learning a new language, tia chi and more. The counting and mind-body connection for some of these can be intense, which helps to keep minds sharp for years to come.
As we increase our knowledge and sharpen our mind we are able to begin to harness the power within. This power helps us mold our belief system and focus on developing certain areas with determination and courage. This focus shapes our perspective and influences our response to our environment and situations. This is our Mindset. A very powerful tool to help us accomplish personal goals and progress mentally. If “Knowledge is Power”, and leads to personal progression, should we not seek after it continually? I encourage you to continually find new and good things to learn. I strongly believe our whole soul desires progression so feed your soul by embracing knowledge and a healthy mind set.
2nd Key – Body Nourishment & Strength

A healthy lifestyle of good nutrition, hydration, proper sleep, and regular exercise are part of the 2nd Key to Complete Wellness. Easier said than done, I definitely know, but we can do it! Start with reducing the foods and drinks you know are unhealthy or that do not harmonize with your body’s personal needs. Have the courage and determination to move more, making physical activity, at whatever level, a more intentional part of your day.
I recently had the opportunity try to get back into things by joining some friends at a pilatesfx studio. I wasn’t sure how I’d do, since these last 2 years have been challenging to say the least, and my body had been seriously neglected. Some of the exercises I felt to be in good form and others, well, not so much. Knowing your body, when to push yourself as well as what your limitation are is so important. I strongly suggest not comparing yourself to others. We are all on separate journeys and as we progress, one day at a time… we will accomplish wonderful things. Keep at it!
3rd Key – Spiritual Connection & Development

Spiritual connection and development includes but is not limited to religion. Religion is absolutely important as it teaches us of an eternal perspective and our place in it. It helps us recognize celestial attributes that brings peace and divine progression with a hope for a blessed eternal life to come. Spirituality, both inside and outside of organized religion, also includes discovering your purpose in life and understanding what brings you peace and joy. It includes being in tune with your own spirit and knowing what it needs to thrive. It means trusting in the promptings of your spirit and the desire and courage to act on them. Gratitude is a big part of our spiritual connection and development. Finding things that touch and fill your soul is a big part as well.
Here are some suggestions for developing our spiritual connections. Be open to meeting new people and developing healthy friendship. Respectfully listen to their perspectives in life and in turn, share ours with them. Our souls need friendships, including those who are shy or introverts. We can bond on our similarities and respect each others rights to our differences. Another suggestion is to immerse ourselves in nature. When I arrange plants and flowers or grow a garden I find myself looking at them for hours, amazed at the beauty that feels so tranquil. Feelings of gratitude for a Creator who knew that natural beauty nourished our spirits begins to fill my soul. Whether I’m gazing off onto an ocean sunset or hiking through a forest, there is a majestic nature to the beauty around us if… we choose to notice it.
Other suggestion include finding and making time for activities that feed your soul like performing music, running in the park, baking up kitchen creations but most of all… be kind to yourself. Give yourselves time to be you. Time to connect to your spiritual frequency and give yourself time to breathe. This is where prayer or meditation comes in. Breathe in the goodness around you and exhale the stress weighing you down. Letting go of stress is not all in your mind. There is something tangible about releasing stress as we consciously choose to breathe in the good and recognize the stressors and breathe them out.
The Mind-Body-Spirit Connection for Complete Wellness

Have you noticed a connection between your mind, body, and spirit? If we’re not paying attention, we will go through life disconnected and struggling to get through each day. Have you noticed emotional or mental stress manifesting in your body as physical stress and illness? What about a racing heart, unusual sweating, trouble sleeping because of a problem in the back of your mind? Perhaps you start to feel lethargic and fatigued and desire to hide under a warm comforter for days, ignoring the world around you? These are signs that your mind- body-spirit connection is out of whack.
When these 3 keys are more aligned and nourished we feel inner peace, true joy and happiness, sincere gratitude, and generosity towards everyone. When we are less focused on the troubles within we can focus and be more prepared for whatever comes next. Remember the quote about how you need to “take care of yourself before you can properly take care of others”? Well there is truth in that statement.
Now we all face challenges, because let’s face it, that’s what’s life is all about – a big test to help us learn and progress. No matter how nourished each key area is, struggles will still come our way. However, by strengthening our minds, bodies, and spirits, we will be prepared to meet what comes with each of us at our best state. Connecting it all takes a lot of effort – lots and lots of it, in fact. I’m not even going to pretend that I’m perfectly connected but I thought I’d take you along on my journey and that is why I created this blog. To share the things that strengthen my mind, nourish my body, and fill my soul in hopes that it will help you along your journey as well.
If any of this resonated with you, please let me know by sharing how you are progressing on your journey. If you know of others who would like someone to journey along beside them, please invite them to this blog. I wish success and happiness as we all strive to nourish our body, mind, and spirit and then connect it all into Complete Wellness. How powerful and confident we will all be as we learn to master these magnificent creations that we all are.
